Compare like-for-like exports
Use exports for the same supplier, product scope and effective dates. An active-only export compared with a full catalog can report removals even when an item remains available. A changed SKU is an addition and a removal unless you have an explicit mapping outside this tool.
Calculate the percentage
For positive prices, the percentage change is (new − old) ÷ old × 100. A move from 12.00 to 14.40 is +20%. CSV Review uses the absolute original value in the denominator to keep negative baseline behavior explicit. An original price of zero has no defined percentage; it is flagged for review instead of displaying infinity.
Review package-size changes
When both files have a positive numeric quantity column with the same unit basis, select it as the optional pack quantity column. CSV Review compares price divided by quantity and shows the original package prices and quantities beside the normalized per-unit change. For example, a pack price rising from 12 for 12 units to 15 for 10 units changes the unit cost from 1.00 to 1.50 (+50%). This calculation assumes both quantity columns describe the same unit; it does not convert units, currency or tax, or infer case contents. Invalid quantities are flagged for review.
Check currency and tax
Price calculations accept plain dot-decimal numbers; currency symbols and decimal commas require manual review. Compare exports on the same currency and tax basis. CSV Review does not convert currencies or infer VAT.
Use thresholds without hiding changes
The default alert threshold is an absolute 20% change, whether increasing or decreasing. When pack quantity normalization is selected, the threshold applies to the unit-cost percentage. It highlights review candidates but does not change the underlying changed/unchanged classification. Numeric tolerance does affect equality; leave it at zero unless your team has agreed on a rounding rule.
Do not import the report as an update file
The export is comparison evidence, not an ERP import template. Review conflicts and schema differences, confirm destination requirements and try a small controlled import separately. This release never writes to your ERP or supplier system.
